Geotechnical Engineering

The main objective of soil mechanics area is providing guidance and technical specifications for the proper design, construction and management of the works. Additionally, our service includes structural parameters for pavement design, project development and excavations procedures, recommendations for the treatment of storm water infiltrated into the underground areas, recomendations for stabilizing slopes and procedures for stabilizing excavations.

 

Our Geotechnical services include:

  • Soil mechanics report in accordance with Chilean Codes . NCH 1508 " Geotecnia-Estudio de mecánica de suelos" , Decreto 117, Decreto 61, NCH 3206 " Geotecnia-Excavaciones, entibaciones y socalzados". Nowadays Manuel Ruz is participating in the Codes: SPT, and the Spectrum committee to update the Chilean Code NCH 433.
  • Geotechncial Investigation.
  • Site exploration (Test pits and drilling).
  • Determination of  geotechnical properties such as soil bearing capacity, reaction constants, seismic soil classification, thrust forces, workability of the site, among many others.
  • In Situ Testing subsurface infiltration, Determination of density by applying sand cone penetration tests and dynamic CPT

  • Soil Dynamics: liquefaction, Settlements due to cyclic loading, vibrating machinery foundations, seismic slope stability ,shoring, retaining walls and foundations.
  • Coordination of several explorations such as: drilling, Plate Load Test (PLT), dynamic cone, and geophysical tests.
